I bought a piece of walnut off a guy from work who's Dad had past away. His Dad collected this piece over 40 years ago. Needless to say it was dry. I bought a 4 pak of these oil lights from Woodcrafter and wanted to give them a try this weekend. This is what I came up with.

I still have to insert the glass oil holder, but need to get some clear caulk first.

It be very nice and should look good in the dark when lit. I usually go for more of a pear shape when I make something like this.
There is always a concern about them tipping over so I go for a broader and more stable base.

Very nice work but like said, tripping can be an issue. I suggest you turn a larger base of an other kind of wood and just insert this one in. Maple or a blackwood base could be nice.
The problem is if you trip it, flaming liquid will spill and expand the flame very fast.

Just my .02 cents
