I usually don't post Euro's and such but with this pen, I just had to post it.
This pen is my first succesful segment job. It was originally going to be solid Alt. Ivory, but a really nasty catch on the bottom tube left me with about 1/4" or so of useable material. I parted the bad stuff off of the tube and had to sit and think of what to do next.
I decided to use this opportunity to attempt to pay homage (SP) to the animal that we try so hard to copy. I knew i wanted to use a wood with origins in Africa, and i knew i wanted to try to save the bit of alt. ivory by the nib.
SO... I drilled a piece of soda can, and a piece of Bubinga. re-glued the bottom tube and tried again. This is the result. I am VERY pleased with it.
sanded to 600 dry, no finish (on purpose) on Bl. Ti. Euro
