Ogham was an ancient Celtic alphabet with examples found in Ireland, Scotland, England, Isle of Man, etc. The letters were inscribed on the corner of a stone (which is what the straight vertical line represents).

From left to right they are Gra (Love), Cairdeas (Friendship) and Sonas (Happiness). It's a wedding present for my nephew who got married in August (hey,I've been busy).

Outer frame is solid walnut, inner framing is Sapelle pomelle veneer, field is Fiddleback Maple veneer and the lettering is Irish bog oak.

This has one coat of BLO and will be followed up with 6 or 8 coats of shellac and a final coat of wax.

I just have to ask....

How in the world do you know about this stuff? Cause it's just too cool.

What? You mean everyone doesn't know at least one stone or bronze age language?

Let's just say I had a lot of spare time in my youth (and by happenstance, my sister married a guy with a PhD in Early and Medieval Irish History).
