With the temps dropping here near zero for the next couple of days I needed to get some of the Cherry salad bowls dried.
This is the best method that I know of-----boil them---:)
Most of the time I use a 20 gal SS tank but they won't fit so I cut a 55 gal drum in half.

Wood contains "free" and "locked in" moisture. Initially wood will loose moisture that is free moving and evaporates fast. The other moister is locked in grain which is why wood takes so long to dry naturally. boiling heats fiber and causes them to release moisture. Of course, boiling introduces moisture into the wood, but it will dry quicker than if left alone to dry naturally. It also reduces warping although not eliminating. Hope this doesn't confuse to much. Kinda works like nuking blanks or kiln drying.
