Hello. I've been turning off and on for about 15 years. Recently got into turning pens. Learning a lot, but still have a ways to go. Just recently joined IAP. Didn't know it was here until recently.
I have mixed results with the CA finish. Still trying though.

If you're new to pen turning, but already working on your CA finish, then you must be serious about your craft. Since only pen turning hobbiests live in northern Virginia, you must live in the Richmond area like I do. :D Welcome, neighbor.

Thanks everyone. I'm from SW VA, near Blacksburg, and a Hokie fan. <g>
I think the CA finish is great, but I have mixed results. My latest experiment is with System Three Clear Coat. I put a first thin coat on and after it cured, I let the second mix sit for about an hour, then applied it using the pen bag method. The let the lathe run slowly for about an hour. After it cures for about 72 hours, I'm going to buff it and see how it does. The problem could be dust. One advantage of CA finish.
