I love keeping the bark on projects. A few months ago I made some candle sticks out of camphor. I've had these salt and pepper tops forever and finally decided to see if I could make a salt and pepper shaker to match the candle sticks. I really didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted them to look like and the final result just kind of evolved. It really matches the candle sticks nicely. I guess I have to make another... I just haven't figured out how to differentiate the salt from the pepper. Any suggestions?

Great job on the shakers!

While they are still on the lathe, you could burn a tiny ring around the shaker top to signify the pepper. You can use a piece of thin laminate (Formica) to burn with once you make a small groove with a point tool.
