I purchased a bag of pen kits and bits from someone clearing his fathers workshop. In it were several wood pen blanks, most I can identify but two have me at a loss.
Pictures attached. When turned it has a smell which is very like chocolate. Very heavy about twice the weight of a larger yew blank in the same pack.
Any ideas of what it is I would appreciate

The color, smell and heaviness reminds me of snakewood : yew is 650 kg/m3, snakewood around 1200. Sometimes, some pieces do not show the typical black motive; it could also be some wood related to snakewood (Brosimum sp.) like letterwood, bofo paya...

Thanks Pierre.
Checked those on timber data base does look very similar, turned and polished with friction polish and got a very good deep looking shine on it.
