My kitchen cabinet

We had a water leak under the kitchen sink a few weeks ago. After my husband got the new cabinet built, I made these pens out of the old and new cabinets. The new wood is red oak. Don't know what the old is.

Red oak makes pretty pens.. your fit and finish os good

They look good from here, nice pens, the one made from the old cabinet looks like hichory to me.

Thanks for the complements! The "old" wood is almost white with a larger grain pattern and didn't cut, smell, drill, or turn like the oak. The oak turned off in rough splinters, but the other was more like little chips.

The red oak is the only oak I've done (that I know for sure) so I don't know if different types of oak behave differently.
