this is my first try at turning a natural edge turning.
the wood is from a red oak that my wifes grandfather gave to me.
the first pic is the log i cut the blank from. the dimensions are 6 inches tall 4 3/4 inches across

it is like cutting butter with a hot knife. had a fair amount of water that would flip on me when i was turning. wish i had a bigger lathe but we get by with what we have.

didnt CA the bark it was really secure. for a finnish i used some friction polish i need to mount it back up now that it has dried and turn it a bit more. then i have made some plexie glass finish that i am trying to get good at have a couple of small cracks where it dried that i will fill.
