I just caught the pen turning bug a couple months ago. Had never touched a lathe before, but now I can't stay out of my shop. This is my first Gatsby. The wood is unknown from a grab box from Woodcraft. It's finished with six coats of CA, then micro meshed to 12,000.

All comments are welcomed, especially constructive criticisms.

Thanks for looking

Gary

Can't see alot of detail with this particular photo, but from what I can see you did a great job. Looks good. Time spent in the shop from here on will only increase!!

Looks fine to me. I like the shape of the body, not fat like a lot of new turners tend to make. Nice finish too. I use way more than 6 coats of CA for finish work but that's due to personal preference rather than outright need.

Nice looking pen, and the Gatsby a great single body pen to have in your inventory.

Most Sierras are about the same, with a little more ornamentation in the metal parts.
The wood sort of looks like Mahogany or Rosewood from what I can see.
