Been turning pens for a number of years now. But I finally got to take the bowl turning class I've always wanted to take. A whole new world of non-mandrel turning has opened up. =)

The bowl gouge is still a little daunting to me, but what fun!

The bowl is walnut. For the time being it's just got a little beeswax polish on it from the class. I plan to do something with a little higher gloss to it this coming weekend.

Nicely done. You gave yourself an extra challenge by turning a closed form bowl rather then open form, but pulled it off great!

Excellent first bowl Jason.
You are hooked now that you have discovered the wonderful world of turning that comes after pens.

Thanks everyone!

jbostian - It was a one day class at the local Woodcraft.

William - as you probably guessed, "hooked" falls shot in description. Practicing with the gouge on scraps currently, but I've already have several inexpensive bowl blanks lined up to play with.

Mac - I guess I sould say my first "recognizable" bowl. Earlier failed attempts to teach myself via books and videos are what prompted taking the class. =)
