This is a acrylic blank that my little girl picked out last weekend when we went to the pen club meeting for the first time. She has been dying for me to turn it but 2 factors keeped me from it. 1. FEAR 2. micro mesh. thanks to a good friend (brooks803) I received some micro mesh today so I had to over come the fear part. Well this is just my third pen cant wait to learn more and make more.:bananen_smilies039:

Like they say in the group here: turning is an addiction. Your pen looks great. It took me longer than I like to admit to have been able to do this well. Congrats, sir.

I like the hardware you picked out. Now if only I can figure out how they made the blank...

Mike, I may be wrong but it looks like a ribbon blank. There is a series of 3 videos on you tube making_ribbon_pen_1, 2 and 3. This may offer you an insight into this blank.

It was scary at first not sure what to expect. It was pretty cool to turn it I took my time cause I keep seeing what I thought were air bubbles in the blank so I didn't want the tool the grab it and take a chuck out but I learned a valuable lesson for own turning in general. I thought the epoxy I got some epoxy in the tube when I pushed it in the blank so I thought I would never get it off of the mandrel. Lol lesson learned. My wife has done said when we get back from Ga this wkend she is making a pen first. It is definitely time for a second lathe
