This happened to be my entry into this years Pen Stand contest. I happen to be fortunate enough to take first place with it. I thought I would post here along with the description that went with the stand. I am in the process of making that special pen for this stand. Did not have enough time during the contests.

This was my 2017 Pen Stand Contest entry. It did take first place. Pen Stand/Clock is of a gambling theme. The materials are maple, walnut, rosewood poker chips, 2" clock insert and dice.

The playing cards were cut out on a scrollsaw and done in maple. The background of the symbols was painted flat black. the large dice is walnut. The base is rosewood with a bevel detail and covered with a dark green velvet. The wood parts were top coated in a satin lacquer.

The poker chips are stacked and shaped to hold a single pen of any size. The holder chips are flocked in green where the pen lays to protect it from scratching.

Thanks for looking.

Great implementation of a themed pen stand! I am sure many would bet a wad for a chance to own this and have this on their desk! Perhaps a casino owner.
I am sure the pen will compliment the stand very nicely.

Another top drawer job there John !! Well done as usual.

Is there any design or anything on the back of the cards? Could you add the new owners name, for instance?

Skip, there is nothing on the back. I usually do not do specialized names. It is a generic design so that they are easier to sell things at my shows. I probably will be adding this to my shows but without the pen holder. I did it specifically for the contest. Thanks.
