I was afraid because lots of persons said that's really hard to turn... With sharp tools it's like butter!! Ok maybe frozen butter hahaha... I'm surprised how it's easy to get a great finish!
I have not had an issue with "acrylic", but I believe that there are a large number of different plastics labelled as acrylic. Some can be more brittle than others. I have not had anything too nasty yet.
I've found that sharp tools AND keeping the tool rest nice and smooth make the job easier. I keep a tub of Johnson Paste Wax right next to the lathe now, and re-wax the rest anytime I feel the tool starting to "drag".
I can't tell what the finish is like on the first one but if it's half as good as the blue one it'll be great.
There are differences in the "acrylics" and how they turn but you soon find out and hopefully while the project can still be rescued.
