I finally had the time to finish this off. I had some Lucite laying around staring at me like the Geico stack of money. All comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Beautiful pen Cris! You've got the threading down tight. What did you use? I'm on a thread fetish these days.

Yeah, I was ready to remove this post due to your's. That guy is amazing, he did it in seconds. He must not have any kids. I used a 1/2" x 36 TPI for the threads. They are the single start, so a few more turns. I like the metric threads a lot, but alas, no cash, story of my life. I have to see what a 12 x 1.0 would look like and what other tooling I would need.

Chris, Enco has the 12 x1.0 taps and dies pretty cheap, I got a set, some day soon I'll use them, Your Lucite looks very nice, I really like the way you contoured the grip.

Love the pen. Beautiful.

Is there some reference telling the size in thousandths the tenon needs to be be for the 1/2" x 36 die to cut proper threads on? I know that some of the taps have it stamped on them the exact hole size to be drilled, but often the dies do not.

Is it simply a matter of sizing the tenon at .500 if the die is a 1/2" size? Thanks for answering the question of a newbie.

Dan,
I shoot for 0.485-0.490. Now I don't have a metal lathe so it's touch and go at this point.

Beautiful work Cris . I was thinking , that when I get back down there , you could lock those kids in a closet long enough for you to show me how that's done .  Nice pen !
