OK, when did this get so expensive? Stopped in my local Ace Hardware today, it's like $ 20.00 a quart! Guess I haven't bought any for a bit, but seems like the price really jumped.

Any cheaper alternatives?

Still $17 and change at the HD....if you buy gallon sized buckets, you could save some cash. But that's a lot of Polycrylic!

All the finishes have gotten painfully expensive compared to the last time I bought finishes, which was close to a decade ago... I too have experienced the sticker shock.

Don't get me started on the cost of plastic models.

I figured I could save a few bucks if I drove 12-15 miles to a Lowes or Home Depot, but it wasn't worth the drive for the savings.

I hesitate to buy gallon sizes of things like this because I have a bad habit of not always resealing lids on paint cans in a timely manner. Same reason I seldom buy expensive brushes unless I'm using a high-end finish like a brushing lacquer or the like. They just don't seem to get cleaned right away.

I'm going to have to fire my apprentice...
