When I learned to turn pens they said after I used each grit of sandpaper to stop the lathe and sand with the grain before moving on to the next grit.

Do you do the same with micro mesh or can you just keep the lathe on and move to the next finer grit?

Thanks,

MM is not magic. Sanding rings are sanding rings. Ya gotta go with the flow. I do the stop and sand with grain thing every other grit. But there are others here who get really spectacular finishes, wait for their replies.

I sand lengthwise with every grit used. Whenever I get this question, my standard reply is "Stop at whatever level of imperfection you are satisfied with. If you don't mind a so-so finish, skip a few grits." Most folks decided that it only takes another couple of minutes to do it right. [8D]
