Metal Inlays

For those of you who inlay with aluminum or copper, how do you prepare the metal for gluing? Do you sand the metal like you would a pen tube? I also do stained glass and have some adhesive backed copper tape. Would this work? Thanks in advance (TIA)

Yep, sand the metal. Adhesive copper tape...don't know, but can't see why not.
