Once again I took on the sad task of making some memorial pens for a close friend of mine. These are simular to the ones I did for his father a couple of years ago. My friend fought a long and hard battle against Melanoma cancer. He was a member of the Army Rangers so was awarded full military honors and these are some of the casings from the salute. He was also a proud Texan through and through and loved working with his horses and hunting. His casket was escorted by a riderless horse with his saddle and chaps draped across it and his boots were reversed in the stirrups. It was one of the most stirring tributes that I have ever seen and one I will cherrish for the rest of my life. Being a Texan, I again felt that the perfect choice of wood for the boxes was Mesquite with a Texas concho of a praying cowboy on it enlayed on the top. For the top of the pens I used deer antler which will be laser engraved with a deer head.

I miss my friend very much, but I will cherrish the memories of our friendship forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Bobby.

It's a beautiful tribute to your friend that I'm sure was difficult, but at the same time easy, to do. It says a lot about you and the type of friend you were.

I'm absolutely sure he's looking down on you grinning and giving you a thumbs up.

Nice pens and fantastic work on the boxes -- you honor memories well!!!

Blessings and hope his time of suffering was merciful and short.
