I just got the wood yesterday and wanted to spend some time with one of the blanks---Humm that almost sounds strange (who cares).
Stablized Maple burl that was cut from a burl that weighed over a 1000 lbs----hey that's the story they told me.

Thanks folks ---two things I really like about the pen---it was stablized right which made it easy to work with and I love the lighter background with the darker color grain---really stands out nice. One shows the other off real nice.

Great looking pen, I think. It is so hard to tell by pictures, but if you send it to me and let me use it for a couple of years, THEN I will be able to give you a definite answer[}:)][}:)][;)]
