Guess I could have made the walls a bit thinner but chickened out. What walls there are :)

Ah you wuss, pop that baby back in the lathe and bring it down to a couple paper thicknesses. Now that bit of advise came from someone that has never turned a hollow form in his life. Actually it looks plenty thin to me, not sure my nerve would have held out as long as yours did. Pretty, and at a glance it makes a very good impression of being a candle. like an oil lamp. very nice.

Sorry I missed that, it is Manzanita burl. Used sanding filler and a bunch of varnish on it. Burl is fun. Must have looked at that convonluted, mess of wood for 2 months before I saw the box.
