Evening friends, quick question for ya's. I've only turned slimline pens which use a 7mm drill bit for the blanks and looking at some fancier kits that use different size drill bits. So I'm assuming the brass tubes will be a bigger diameter to fit the blanks but my question is would I need different mandrels to fit these tubes?

most of the basic kits, if you buy the bushing, they are sized inside for the standard mandrel and actually slide INSIDE the tube and are stepped to the outside diameter. Not sure if it makes sense, but it will the first time you order a set of bushings for other than 7 MM tube pen kits

No, you just need the bushings for the particular kit you are going to use. Most all the bushings will fit you mandrel. There is a few pens that use a different size mandrel and I'm not sure which ones they are though.

Oops. Mitch beat me to the punch.
