Hello all....
I have recently converted an old grinder to a 2 wheel buffing station... the pad on the left is a firm pad. The pad on the right is a very soft pad. I was wondering which compound should I use to get that High gloss shine that I hear so much about? Also which of the 2 pads should I put it on? I am presently not buffing my pens at all.

This is my opinion: ( and just that! )

You will need a wheel for final buffing. I use TSW and give the pen a final buff. This wheel needs to be real soft, loose flannel is best. I use my wool roller instead of a wheel.

That leaves only one wheel in your setup. Be careful about buffing pens with a firm wheel, you might succeed in removing the finish.

The usual compounds FOR PENS are in this order:

1. Tripoli
2. White diamond.
3. Wax

I find that using fine grits like MM I just need the final buffing with wax. And sometimes I will use Novus #2 on plastics.
