It's been a while since I made one of these.
I was going to use a copper colored label but it had too many flaws.
So I had this 'beast' double label.
I wanted to use a double band because the lower ban does not show the grain misalignment on the 2 thread starts that are not aligned.
Anyone know of a very dark burl I could use next time?

Redwood Burl! PM me your address an I'll send you a piece. I've been using it for some of the birdhouses (lots left). Very easy to turn, dark but with clear swirls, unstabilized, finished easily.

Mark, I appreciate the offer.
I have made one with redwood burl(see below), but it is not dark enough for maduro cigars.
In fact, a burl that dark would probably not show much of the wood grain and burl figure.
I like the lighter colored ones anyway but I won't tell my cigar band guy that...don't want the supply to dry up.

Thanks Karl.
That's one wood that I have never heard of. Looks a lot like the claro walnut.
A walnut burl would work if it was dark enough or a blackened section of buckeye burl.
