I needed a 1/16" parting tool and wasn't going to get to a woodworking store until the next meeting so I bought the longest sawzall blade I could find and made one. I just laid my big one on it and drew the tip profile on the blade, cut it with a grinder and sharpened it. The whole process took about 5 min. This is something I should have done a long time ago. Easier to start and control and doesn't dance around when starting a cut. Now I just need to put tape on the teeth so it doesn't cut my hand open if things go wrong.

A hacksaw blade in the frame works very well with teeth still working. Just saw down to where you want. No jerking, no jumping, great control, thin cut.

I did something similar with a jigsaw blade. I just ground off all the teeth

Same here, got a dowel about the same width, cut a slot in it and drilled a hole the size of the dowel in a larger piece of wood for the handle...
