I saved the shavings from a M3 composite pen that I made a while back. I put them in a mold and poured clear PR over them this weekend. I turned it round to see what it would look like. I have some voids that I hope do not extend in to the middle. I will pressurize it if I do it again. I think that this might turn into a neat pen.

Close but no cigar, I turned the blank but did not have the shaving throughout and had some clear spots. It does show a lot of promise and resembled Damascus steel where I had good coverage. I need to layer in the shavings and build up layers as I pour.

If I may ask, did you fill a mold with the shaving, then pour you acrylic in, or did you mix the shaving in with the liquid acrylic and then pour into your mold?

I put the shavings in and then poured. I thin I should have put in a layer, mixed, another layer mix, etc.

I think you're on to something good there!

I too say try again, but mix the shavings and PR before pouring.
