Living in the south you get to know a lot of white tail deer hunters. I've made a few antler bullet pens even as a new pen turner and people are really amazed.
The trick is the blank set up and a lot less turning...in fact, the less tooling the better. Small deer with small horns are better. This is probably my best antler pen in about 6 tries. It has a very small diameter and I thought it probably would crack somewhere in the process.
Very satisfied with this one.:)

Looks good. I never did any antler.. I read that it stinks when you turn it??
Shouldn't smell anything Mike...antler is deadly to inhale so PAPR type respiratory protection is mandatory. Doesn't hurt to have an air scrubber working in your corner as well.

Interesting. I like the antique brass and the natural look of the antler. That must have been a little feller that supplied that antler.
