Made this one for my best "customer" - aka, my wife. I managed to get my hands on two small pieces of Lilac Burl and when I got them, my wife laid claim to one. So I happily set one of them aside to make a pen for her.

Wood: Lilac Burl w/ a little spalting in the sapwood, stabilized
Finish: Satin CA
Components: LeRoi v. 2 from Smitty's

That looks great, Matt!

Regards,
Michael

Thanks, Michael!

BTW, that pinecone blank from you from the PITH is up soon - it's been drilled and backpainted. Should get a chance to glue in the tubes today and hopefully get it turned sometime soon!

Looks great! I love the smell of lilac in my shop!

Unfortunately no smell of lilac from this piece, as it had been stabilized. (The spalted sapwood was too soft.) But, I do have a few blanks of non-burl lilac that I'm looking forward to turning. I'm betting my wife might venture into my shop when I turn them - she loves lilacs and there are two bushes in front of our house. Me, I'm allergic to flowers, so the lilacs and I don't get along!
