Hello All you fine penmakers,
I do some silversmithing and making pens. I'd like to make a letter, like the initial of a persons name and attach it to a clip. The letter will be made of sterling silver. I solder with a propane torch and I'm concerned that if I solder this letter onto a clip it will mess up the finish on the clip. The torch gets very hot and I could melt the clip also. I suppose I could epoxy the letter onto the clip. Anyone got any experience soldering items onto pen clips? Also, I would like to attach at Viet Nam service ribbon (miniature made of metal) to a clip for my best friend; he is a Bronze Star recipient and very humble about his experience in Viet Nam. This little metal piece is made of bronze, I believe. It would look very cool on a pen clip in his pocket. Your advice is much desired.
Thank you,
Tony
