Got a letter from my Doctor yesterday of now it is official

"Dear Thomas:

Great news! The MRI of your brain is normal.

Sincerely, K.K. Ishihara M. D."

so there, it must be everybody else. Going to frame it a put it in entry hall and carry a copy in my car.

Seriously. I having some issues walking and fell recently while walk with wife and dogs. No reason just went down. I wander from side to side and kind of pull to the right like a car out of alignment while walking. Had MRI of lower back and it came back amazingly good for a person of my age, 72, Goring to see a Physical Therapist Specialist tomorrow morning to have my walk/gait evaluated. I can still walk 2-4 miles a day but it is a little scary at my age don't want to fall and break something. I think it is nerve damage from poor circulation in my legs, PAD, that was corrected 4 years ago when they did a Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair and fixed the arteries in my legs. Don't have pain any more just the funny walk and instability. May have to figure out a way to turn a walking stick, that will take a lot of CA to get a good finish on.

Tom my sister has the same problem. She has had several MRI's done and an EEG and sleep study and such and they can't seem to find the problem. I go over there every month for a couple of weeks to try to help her around the house and to use my shop which is over there. She had a power outage in the beginning of this last week and living out in the woods like that, it is pitch dark when there is no power and she fell several times. She couldn't see what she was doing or going. Thank God she has not broken any thing or got seriously hurt. They don't know what is the problem but her MRI's showed normal too and she has memory issues that they don't know what is causing that either but her Dr has her on meds like Hydrocodone and other narcotic meds and I don't have to be a DR to know that that is the problem with her memory issues. It has some thing to do with it I'm sure... I hope things get better... Glad you are fine.. Fay

I had some urinary surgery a while back... one of my medications was also Hydrocodone... I took it for 2 days, but didn't like the side effects and refused to take it any further... Part of me thinks that some of the medications that are so freely dispensed can cause as much harm as good... I pretty much stick to blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication and something that they tell me regulates the rhythm of my heart... anything narcotic - forget it.

Hi Tom, I'm glad for the good news from your doctor. I have similar problems with walking. I have neuropathy in my limbs from diabetes. I have been diabetic for many years and am 76. It is the reason I had to switch from my motorcycle to my CanAm trike in 2010. I walk like a drunk. I slur my words on purpose to make it realistic. (he, he) I do not use a cane unless I am walking a distance or on an unlevel surface like a park. I do use a cane when attending functions where I am required to spend lots of time on my feet. Pretty common problem we just kind of get used to. I hope things go well with you.

I refuse to take narcotic type of drugs also and I too have diabetes and so far I have no problems , at least nothing major. Sis had it too and I've had mine much longer than she has had hers. I used to have trouble with walking very far but after my diabetes diagnosis they found my aortic valve was the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil so it had to be removed and another one put in. The aortic valve should be the size of a quarter they told me. I have been great ever since but now there is a blockage in my corotid artery on the left side so I go to see a surgeon next month... I'll be fine and will turn for a long time yet... Fay
