Here is a Sierra Vista with a bit of segmenting. It is curly maple with red and black veneer. It is finished in 8 coats of med CA and polished. Thanks for looking. Comments or questions are always welcomed.

Beautiful pen John. The red/black contrast is awesome. The only negative I can say is unless we can't see it in the picture, the segmenting hides all the curl and it could just be normal maple.

Well I will tell you this I am a woodworker and curly and birdseye maple are the only maples I use in my woodwork. The veneer is hiding the curls and in a small sample such as a pen you will not get the full effect of curly maple. I did not use curly maple for that effect but for the cream color. I thought about using Holly.
