I got a nice 2-3oz. Italian veg-tanned leather hide from Tandy leather, and had a bit left over after completing another project - then came the micro-light bulb moment - why not?...:
Steps:
Leather rectangles cut with tiny-toothed pinking shears.
Rectangles spray-moistened to enhance flexibility/surface work-ability.
Rectangles adhered to brass tubes with Barge cement - pinked edges carefully abutted - seam accentuated with pyrographed faux "stitches".
Leather-clad tubes tooled to add textural interest, then leather-dyed using a fine-tipped airbrush.
Pyrographed with a Razertip pen (skew tip).
Sealed with satin finish Eco-flo sealer.
Assembled.
I posted it here in the the Other Things forum because it's not a turned pen.
BUT I can see leather inlays on a turned pen - some nice possibilities ahead.
Happy Sunday to all - Bob
