I turned my first stacked leather pen today. About a week ago we stopped by a Mennonite leather shop and picked up a pile of leather. Nice people and a pretty nice pile for $11.00.
It was a little more involved than I first anticipated. It turned into a Leather "and Walnut" pen because I had to add a couple of Walnut enhancement bands. (sounds better than oops bands.)
My challenges were the fact that the different leather segments turned differently because of their hardness. The enhancement bands came when the bushings stuck to the leather and I damaged the ends removing them.
All in all it turned out fairly good.
