Last pen for the night

Another European pen. I have no idea what the blank is. When I picked it out it was a very dark brown...as I turned it, it changed to reds, yellows with a touch of grays.
If someone can help me figure out what wood this is, I would greatly appreciate it. lol

The coloring you describe sounds like Cocobolo to me.

My 2 cents, looks too dark for canarywood and too light for cocobolo. My 2 cents might be counterfiet.

Looks like Cocobolo out of Panama. Mexican Cocobolo is darker. Is the wood slightly oily leaving a residue when sanding? Did it have astrong odor when cut, drilled and turned? If so, you can bet on Cocobolo.

Looks like cocobola to me as well. As this ages it will turn back oranges and browns and look even better
