Kitless pens are usually made without prepackaged parts. They are in most cases made with a few bought parts though. Fountain pen feeds, nibs, and converters, clips, rings sometimes, rollerball and ballpoint refills, springs and click mechanisms. The maker works out the size of the overall pen and cuts the threads with tap and die or sometimes with a metal lathe. Some will akso make their own clips, roll stops and rings / bands. Search the SYOP section for kitless or custom and you will find examples of all kinds.
