I've been asked by some motorcycle buddies whether I can turn weather proof shifter knobs. Imagine the knob on your stick shift. Basically the same thing, but it'll be out in the sun and weather.

I'll recommend against being used on a bike that's stored out doors, because sun is hell on just about any wood. But what about against rain, say if the rider is caught in the rain while riding?

Would CA fit the bill for that? An epoxy, maybe?

No finish is going to stand up to rain and sun indefinitely. Spar varnish is what I use on exterior wood (such as my front door). It needs to be stripped, sanded, and reapplied every 5 years or so.

Get the wood stabilized by either using Mesquiteman's system, or if you can't do that, have it done by one of the professional services. Ask here for any members that may be able to do it for you.
