I've been helping a friends sell a large quantity of black walnut lumber that was grown, cut and 18 years barn dried right down the road from me.
I've been discovering some interesting boards from the crotch area and some from where the heartwood and sapwood meet in interesting ways.
Here's one of them. Interesting color change and grain pattern. It even has a little black line swirling through it.
I've only been turning pens for a couple months so don't beat up on me too much!
