Installing brass pin hinges

Hello,

I am making wooden pen boxes similar to these - Pen Boxes | Syzygy Woodworks and constantly get licks installing the pin hinges Brass Pin Hinges - Lee Valley Tools.

No matter what type of CA I use, it tends to creep up the hinge making the movement very stiff.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

Use less glue. One drop at the bottom should do it.

Or if you're really worried about it moving, use the tiniest drop of epoxy.

You would also consider drilling the hole a tiny bit deeper to give a relief for the glue to go to rather than up.

Looks like nice boxes. Note that in the article the author specifically comments "don't use CA glue for the hinges". My experience too. I'd use a 1 min epoxy.
