So I got the following from someone interested in a fountain pen after I sent them about half a dozen pics of options.

"I like ones that pinch in the middle"


Anyone have an idea what this might mean? Person will out of contact for about a week so the direct answer will be delayed.

I bet they're saying they like pens that narrow in the middle and are wider at the top and near the nib.

Typically a fountain pen user is most interested in how the nib/grip section feels. Look at a few different fountain pen designs and you might see some that have a straight profile, some that have a taper, some that have a gentle hour-glass (or "pinched") profile, some with a ridge at the lip, some without ...

The attached pic has a slight pinch and lip at the nib, for example.
