I don't know if this is possible
I would like to try my hand Apt turning a woodem goblet

My question is I have an inch and 3 eighths expansion chuck (?),the one i bought 2 turn pocket watches. I really don't have the money to by the fancy equipment that i see people normally use to make those goblets.
Will it be possible to use the tool i have or do i really have to spend money?

You can use a glue block screwed to a faceplate. I've been using glue blocks for several months now for bowls ... not use my scroll chuck for bowls since the first glue block.
This may help:

Also, several articles here: http://www.google.com/search?q=glue...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Good luck.

Crack...maybe or maybe not. My experience has been if the wood blank is crack free and if the bowl (goblet) is turned to a consistent wall thickness cracking will be very minimal if any at all. But, consistent wall thickness and crack free blanks are the keys. Warp...probably but the warping does add character to the finished vessel. Green wood turns much easier than dry wood. Glue blocks work just fine on wet or green wood. Nearly all of the bowls I make are made from green wood.
