A few weeks ago I posted some pictures of my tailstock that came apart. I purchased it used, originally it came from the local high school so I assume it was well "used and abused". The handle on the back was always a little sloppy especially when the quill was out a ways. I thing this contributed to the part wearing away.
I received several good suggestions and appreciate the help. What I tried was putting a bearing to replace what held the screw in place but could not find one that fit. Ended up getting a thick washer that fit up into the groove in the tail stock housing. To make it fit the back of the screw I cut the shoulder area 1/16" smaller and everything fits and more importantly it works.
The first picture shows the old washer on the right and the new on left, second picture shows it assembled ready to insert into the housing.
Thanks again for your help.
