Help with skins

I was given a cotton mouth snake sike today that has been salt cured will someone help out would like to try to make pens with it.

Do I need to get the salt off somehow and then were do I go from there

My choices would be Don Ward (It's Virgil), or Wind River Pens. Both are members here and do an excellent job. Provided that salt tanned is workable. I don't know the answer to that.

I personally think that once you salt a snakeskin, it is no longer suitable to make blanks out of. It doesnt matter how much you let it soak in glycerine to soften the skin, it will never be supple. Wash that thing off and let it soak in some 50/50 mixture of glycerine and alcohol, both should be at least 99% pure. you can buy some at CQconcepts , you will just have to go to the products page and find both products.
