I'm having some difficulty I can use some pointers on.
I'm having trouble getting the wood flush with the nib. Usually it comes out a tad too think.
Started working on CA/BLO finish, and the ends end up with a white ring. To combat the white ring, what I did is make some bushing out of an extra brass tube - swap them in when ready for finish so the bushing isnt flush with the wood. That help a lot with the white ring - it was "inside" the end and a quick touch with the barrel trimmer took care of it. Only problem is that this time the wood was smaller than the nib. I don't think it was becasue I removed the bushings. I put one coat of stabilizing CA on before I swapped the bushings and final sanded with higher grits (up to 2000).
Any sugestions?
Good news is the CA finish worked out - just not as glossy as I would like. I buffed it with some Minwax furniture wax, but I think that actually softened the gloss a bit.
