In order to polish my skill, I bought a bunch of Fancy Slimline kits from CSUSA. I'm only few month new to the pen turning. I've successfully turned several blanks. However when I try to assemble cap and clip, the cap stuck at the clip hole and wouldn't go though easily. Do you think it might be defected parts or It is normal for cheap kits like slimline? If anyone had similar problem, how do you solve it?

Thanks Don,
So, It's normal for cheap kits like this, and somehow I have to make hole bigger myself... I'll be polishing other skill as well.

It's normal for nearly EVERY slimline I have made from EVERY source (several thousand in my show history).

Keep a "Dremel" tool nearby with a small fine grinding piece (you can buy 20 piece set at Harbor Freight for under $5). You will often find a use for it in penmaking.
