Hi All,
Another first for me today!
A friend gave me some "Hawthorn" wood, which is significant to the place that I live in, as the town is named after it. (Hawick) It comes from the old English for Haga-Wic - "Settlement surrounded by a hedge".
Anyway, I turned the first piece, and it made a very nice pen, and I made a matching stand to go along with it.
This is to be given as a gift to a local man for his 50th birthday.
Apparently it is classified as a Fruit wood.
Any comments welcome.
