A customer has sent me a broken pen with a half-length cross type refill.

Repair requires replacing the transmission as well as the cap end.

Are there small (half-length) kits for Cross-type refills?

How about the refills themselves?

Any ideas where to get these?

TIA

Dave

You can shorten the cross fill by pulling off the plastic threaded cap, cut the refill to size using a set of wire cutters, and then slide the plastic cap back onto the end of the shortened refill. Use a spot of CA glue to ensure the cap stays attached.

You can buy those refills at Office Depot, Staples, Office Max. They are made by Zebra and a couple of other manufacturers. They are also sold by other sites on line.
They are the refills for multi-pens/

I make a version of the Berea Necklace Pen for quilters - that uses the short refill and has a press in transmission. The threaded cap is pressed onto the end of the refills and threaded into the transmission. I use a detachable key ring fitting to replace the cheesey necklace connection on the pen, but workes nice on a chatalaine.
