This wood is from the original outdoor set of the television series "Gunsmoke." The television series ran for 20 seasons from 1955 to 1975, and lasted for 635 episodes making this show one of the longest running television series of all time. Specifically, this wood was removed from the "Doc's Office".
In the series, US Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness) presides over Dodge City, a Wild West town that sees more than its fair share of frontier lawlessness. When rustling, gunfights or brawling disrupt the peace, it's up to Dillon to restore law and order. When he isn't fighting the bad guys, the lawman is trying to win over the affections of Kitty (Amanda Blake).
During the 20-year run, Gunsmoke won five Emmy Awards and was nominated for 15. Other awards include the Golden Globe, Western Heritage Awards, and Writers Guild of America awards.
The wood is in pretty bad shape that will require stabilization.
