Grinder wheels

What grit of wheel is best for sharpening lathe tools after the first session?

I like either a 60 or 80 grit friable wheel. Think the white wheels on grinder now are 80 grit. Go right from the grinder to turning.

Tried a 100 or 120 grit wheel some years ago, thought it a waste of time.

i'll second the 80 grit finishing wheel. white norton is what i got also.

80 grit one side for general sharpening and 120 the other side for skews and miniature tool, both white norton.

Can any of you tell me where you are buying the 80 grit white wheels? I checked the site posted in this thread but they don't seem to offer it in 80 grit. It looks like they jump from 60 to 100.

Price is what took me to Sharpening Supplies. There are other vendor's which have a better selection, perhaps some one could list their favorite place.

Not sure there is a big difference between 60 & 80 grit wheels.

Last purchased two wheels at Sharpening Supplies for what one wheel would cost at other places.
