I saw something similar around here (can't remember who to give them proper credit) and, as I live next to a golf course and collect a few buckets of balls per year I always said I wanted to try it.

Well, here is my attempt / prototype - curly maple "tee" on a Euro tube, slimline guts. My wife says it is too heavy to write with, but I didn't make it for her! Thinking of getting one of the old persimmon (sp?) drivers from a pawn shop for a buck or two and use the head as a pen holder after cleaning it up. Thoughts?

Comments, etc. welcome!

You could try just making the pen shaped like a golf tee and then place the ball on top so it is removable and place it on a green felt base pen holder

Thoughts. Well having done a few of these I would say.
1. Good job with the first one.
2. Golfers love them'
3. I would go with something less exciting than curly maple next time :)
4. You can use a slim line tube and nib without any issues if you would like.

I hear you on the maple - I happened to have that in hand, wondering what to do with it since it is so "white" and the lightbulb thought of golf tee. There you have it.

The prototype had a little bit of learning curve, plus I did think of a few things to do different. I have a 4 gallon (our of a 5 gallon bucket) supply of trial and error to go!
