I'll guess that this question has been asked before, but since I'm new to turning and this site I would like to know if it's OK to use medium CA to glue tubes. And if so how long do I wait before turning the blank? Thanks Jeff
FWIW, I've been using original Gorilla glue for my past 50 pens or so and have never had a tube push out due to glue expansion. If you find yourself turning pens and having a few blowouts, look closely at the area that came apart and see where the glue adhered and where it did not. You will be surprised at how much space between the tube and blank does not have glue adherence.
For this reason, some use Epoxy, but epoxy does similar to CA in having gaps inside. For a great adhesion, polyurethane glues do best, but they have to be treated differently. The tubes should be taped in, or the expanding polyurethane glue will push the tube out as it expands. Poly glue takes 6 to 12 hours, I think but I usually do it over night.
Using medium and even thick CA is fine in most cases. 10 to 30 minutes usually worked good for me.

I have done thousands of pens with CA, they blow up only if my turning technique goes to he!! in the middle of making a pen, which still happens from time to time.
